Jane thinks she's found the script that will solidify her plan of being a great producer and finally put to rest the memory of being the goofy child star who's become a well-known meme. The problem? Her studio won't green light it if it doesn't have commercial appeal. So she tells a little white lie- she can get a huge pop star to write an original song for the film. Dan, the grumpy cinematographer who she almost dated until he torpedoed the first script she tried to get made, gives her a chance to find the pop star by going with him to his hometown. I really loved this one- Annabel Monaghan writes romances that have depth and this one really explores how our past can inform our present in both good and bad ways. I love the vulnerability she showcases between the characters, as well as how well she creates a cast of characters that make it feel like you are really in the story. Her books are emotional and hopeful and I can't wait for her next one!
