In a society where lineage and blood reigns supreme, Aura Cassia has neither. What she is and what she does with it, however, speaks much more than anything else. As a Kitchen Witch who runs her own bakery and who keeps Starlight Orphanage running, there is nothing that she will not do to protect the ones she cares about. Her determination eventually brings her to Varil Arkenoth, a demon who becomes very interested in the half-witch. What happens next is a beautiful cozy fantasy romance and a tale of belonging.
When I picked up SMM, I thought I was going to get a delicious rom-com and I did not expect to cry at all. I have absolutely no idea how Enola M. Douglas does it but this story absolutely tugged at my heartstrings. The found family, cozy romance, and slow-burn are all a very enjoyable time but the emotions got to me. Cassia’s strength and journey is so beautiful and I love how Ark supports her - he sees her even though it takes a moment. I want more and I’m really excited to see where their story goes.
Thank you so much to Enola M. Douglas for the gifted ARC. All opinions are my own.
