This book started off a bit slow for me, but I was loving it by the end! By 20-25% in, we start to really get into the Crucible (the trial), and that's when I really started to get sucked into this book. I loved the connection and tension between our MCs. This first book does not have any spice (hello actual slow burn!), but from what I understand, the second book does so this is not a spice-free series.
This was a really good first book and sets up well for subsequent books. It had some twists that I saw coming and some that I absolutely did not! I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series.
