Hockey captain Niko needs a nanny for his four-year-old daughter, Sophia—thanks to an unreliable ex who keeps letting her down.
Sadie, the black sheep of her judgmental family, is a yoga and wellness instructor contracted part-time to work with the team, bringing a holistic approach to healing and mindfulness.
When Sadie befriends Niko and agrees to nanny Sophia for the rest of the season, lines blur fast. Now roommates, neither can deny the attraction building between them.
Do they have what it takes to make a real go of this little family—or will their insecurities pull them apart?
I’m not usually a single-dad trope lover, but Niko and Sophia won me over early. His devotion to being the best father possible only added to his appeal—and honestly, it’s wild that his ex-wife walked away from that. A professional athlete’s body paired with dedicated husband-and-dad energy? Say less.
If Niko is a cinnamon roll (which he absolutely is), Sadie is the zesty lemon curd surprise inside that elevates the entire experience. I was genuinely surprised by how much I loved her energy, especially her willingness to stand by her convictions—even when it means walking away from her family’s wealth to follow her own dreams.
Hockey lovers will also appreciate the care Jillian Arly puts into the on-ice scenes. She clearly knows the sport, and it shows.
This is the second book in the Green Bay Bobcats series. While it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend starting with Behind the Bench, since those characters play a big role here.
