Fated to the Vampire Prince sank its fangs into me and refused to let go. I devoured it in under 24 hours and would’ve done it in one sitting if life hadn’t intervened. It’s that captivating.
Claire is the powerless daughter of a powerful Light Witch coven leader—shunned, belittled, and desperate to prove she’s more than a disappointment. To earn her mother’s approval, she takes a deadly mission to spy on the vampire court, bound by an enchanted choker that will kill her if she fails.
Enter Bastien, hosting a lavish selection ball to choose his annual blood donor. (Vampires pick one donor per year and compensate them well.) The moment he meets Claire, he recognizes her as his fated mate. Law forbids mates from serving as donors, so he tries to reject her. Through manipulations and mishaps, he ends up bound to pick her anyway and hides the truth while he searches for a way out.
One of the book’s most compelling through-lines is Claire’s prejudice against anyone outside the Light Witches. She reads like someone raised in a sheltered, dogmatic environment, and her internal tug-of-war as her worldview fractures feels authentic. She’s a naïve 25-year-old who’s always been told her side are the “good guys,” and watching that certainty crumble is satisfying.
Pacing-wise, this is quick and undeniably hot. I don’t read a ton of vampire romance and forgot just how seductive vampires can be. The chemistry between the leads absolutely sizzles, and when they finally give in, the payoff is worth the wait. Beyond the heat, Bastien sees Claire clearly and shows her she’s far from worthless.
Is it a bit predictable? Yes, but I didn’t mind knowing (or guessing) what was coming; the momentum carries you. The speed does leave some unanswered questions and light world-building gaps; I’m hoping book two fills those in.
Overall, this was a blast. If you want a fast-paced, fated-mates vampire romance with real heat and a heroine unlearning what she’s been taught, Fated to the Vampire Prince delivers. I’m eagerly awaiting book two. 🩸📖
