Devoured is such a great novella for Halloween season if you’re looking for a dark, gothic monster romance. Set on Samhain in ancient Britain, the atmosphere is thick from page one, a humming forest, blood-bright moon, and a promise that something hungry is waiting. Flavia’s (our FMC) arc from prey to power feels cathartic in all the best ways, and Ysu (our MMC) delivers the morally feral energy that catches the itch for danger and revenge. (If you like your romances a little thorny and unhinged, you’ll be happy.)
The writing has that foggy, witch-hour vibe I love. Rituals, whispers in the trees, teeth just out of sight. The chemistry snaps fast and keeps its edge, and the spice fits the story instead of stopping it. Power is the point here. Watching Flavia choose herself again and again felt so satisfying, and when the reckoning comes, it lands.
This is a quick read you can inhale in one sitting, perfect for spooky season when you want something dark, sensual, and a little savage. There are some heavy trigger warnings here, so peek at those if you need them.
