Morgan and Sylvan set this book on fire with their banter and chemistry. They start out hating each other on principle, then they actively just hate each other, then hate to love each other, and you get the idea.
Morgan comes from a long line of powerful witches, but somehow that power seems to have missed her. She is also a seemingly rare omega, yet another thing that makes her stand out from her lineage. Brought back to her home by the death of her grandmother, it seems like the more she learns about the history of her family, the more she doesn't fit. She does know her family is supposedly cursed, and now her grandmother has given her a bodyguard to protect her from it, whether she wants him or not.
Sylvan is running from his past and what killed his entire pack when he was a teen. He took a job with the elder Foxglove witch before she died, which then leads to protecting her granddaughter for the next nine months. He has no choice in the matter either.
I really enjoyed the world of this book. The lore was interesting while keeping you guessing as to how the characters fit into it, and what that means for their futures. The world of wolves, witches and daimons drew me in from the start, and the specific omega verse dynamics made it even more fun to me.
This is a SPICY book. Most of the plot seems to be driven by the sexy times. I think it is done really well, in a way that doesn't feel gratuitous. There is a lot explored between the characters during their monthly heat, so it makes sense that their relationship develops during those times.
Once Morgan and Sylvan start getting answers, it seems like more and more secrets found as soon as one is revealed. It makes me anxious for the next book in the series already.
My favorite part of this book is the house itself, Tabby. I love the idea of a sentient house without it being tied to an AI that may one day try to take over the world. The house is sassy and kinda voyeuristic, but takes care of its inhabitants the best it can. I like to think Tabby was rooting for Morgan and Sylvan from the start.
This book is a must-read for fans of omega verse, paranormal romance, enemies to lovers, new takes on vampires, witches and werewolves, and anyone who likes stories set in the modern world with just a few changes.
