Make Me Hate You by Kandi Steiner
⭐⭐⭐⭐½ (4.5/5)
The way this book had me ABSOLUTELY BAWLING. I was a complete mess, crying at the beginning, middle, and end. The angst and yearning owned me.
My heart broke over and over for Jasmine. This woman has parental abandonment issues that are, unfortunately, all too relatable and would be enough to have me in her corner. Then she gives herself to the boy she's been in love with, and he tells her they made a mistake. Talk about complete and utter devastation. Now she is forced to face him after seven years of silence because her BFF is getting married... and he's her older brother!
And Tyler? Even though the book is single POV, the depth of his feelings for Jasmine doesn't go unnoticed. Every glance, every weighted silence, every pained expression—this man is harboring some serious emotions. Once we finally get the whole truth about what happened between him and Jasmine when they were teenagers, it's hard not to fall for him. And—total side note—him being known as The Hot Money Guy, showcasing his brains and sexiness? MAKE IT REAL.
The connection between Jasmine and Tyler was crystal clear, even as they took us on an emotional roller coaster. When they finally got together (again), the heat was so intense I had to turn on the fan. But it wasn't just the spice that hit; it was the tenderness that followed that wrecked me.
This book has solidified Kandi Steiner as an auto-read author for me. Now I just need to tackle her back catalog!
Thank you to the author, Arndell, Luna Literary Management, and NetGalley for providing an ARC.
