Setting up the group dynamic

I preferred this to book one and got totally swept up in the continuation of Raven's story. There isn't much plot movement from the threads started in book one and instead this felt more focussed on the dynamics in the group. I liked the Rasmus rescue mission giving Raven and her guys to develop as a group outwith the academy setting; the relationships are all developing at their own pace and I like that there is friction to work through rather than the bond over riding everything.

Zane continues to my favourite of the MMCs; he showed some of his more vulnerable side and I'm here for the tension with Rasmus. I'm struggling a little with Maverick and his possessiveness as although he does clearly dote on Raven it started to feel a little repetitive. As he was the only mate in book one I appreciate that this is a learning curve for him but I was ready for him to dial it back a bit particularly when Zane and Kai didn't get that same post bond time. I am over Kenji's mean girl energy too and was livid for him ruining Zane's tree. That really got to me!

It looks like we're about to take a detour to Kai's territory after than cliffhanger. Looks he is also a member of the dodgy parents club unfortunately!

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
