Book: The Buried Club by M. O'Hara

The Buried Club is a dark fantasy about Arthur, a feared man known as the Deathwalker, and Maisha, a young bone shaman who crosses paths with him while trying to escape the life chosen for her. The story has monsters, magic, political drama, and a complicated but interesting world. I especially liked how the four card suits were woven into the different lands and their histories.
Of course, Arthur was one of my favorite parts. The Deathwalker is violent, angry, morally gray, and constantly fighting the dark urges inside him, which made him exactly my kind of character. I also really liked Maisha, who refuses to let Arthur’s attitude scare her away. Their banter was fun, and I loved watching their relationship slowly turn into found family.
There are still so many secrets surrounding Arthur’s past, Fox, and Elizabeth. The ending left me with more questions than answers, and I really need to know what happens next. Thank you to M. O’Hara for the opportunity to ARC read this book.
