I really enjoyed Andi Eloise and James Cassidy's performances in this dual recording. My preference is always duet but both of the narrators were excellent in the alternative roles within their POV chapters which can be a real make or break for me. There are not a lot of one on one scenes but it was still relatively easy to pick out who was who.
Oakley, the FMC, is likeable even if she makes some questionable choices along the way. At least she acknowledged the majority of her ideas probably weren't the greatest and her motto is 100% "curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back"! The college aspect isn't as prevalent as I thought it would be with most of the action taking place in the apartment building or the bar. Oakley has enough drama going on but I wonder if the mysterious boyfriend from her previous town is going to make an appearance as it seemed just a little too vague when it was mentioned in passing. Dalton, Cross, Sawyer, and Zade come with a whole other set of issues though and I like how Oakley wasn't kept in the dark for too long regarding certain allegiances. Secret societies are one of my favourite tropes and the prologue for this has set a high bar; I'm really intrigued to see what happens with that upcoming deadline after the reveals towards the end of the book!

3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
