Book: Danger Close by Molly Briar

I love a second chance romance and this one hit the mark! Cobra and Teri had been apart far longer than they had been together and although the feelings were always there, neither of them were the same person they originally fell for as their lives took very different paths. Teri just broke my heart from the prologue and the flashbacks really showed what a shell of a person she had become after years of suffering and putting up walls to keep everyone out, including her daughter who has grown to resent her.
I haven't read the first two books in the series but it didn't lesson my engagement. In hindsight, I'd have liked to have seen Taz and Teri's relationship from Taz's POV (which I think is the previous book in the series) as despite being a major catalyst for the plot, Taz isn't featured very prominently. As much as I loved the romance angle, I really wanted to see more of the moments when Taz truly recognised what her mother had gone through (including what she hid at the wedding). There is one great scene but I'd have loved to have seen them rebuilding their relationship on page too.
I found the narrators both really compelling; Molly Briar is great as Teri and really made me feel for the character and the trauma she was working through. P G Hammock is a new to me narrator and I loved him! The way Hammock brought out Cobra's humour in a story which had some pretty dark themes just had me hooked and I couldn't put it down once I strapped in. The chemistry between them both was so good and I'm hoping they have more projects together in future.
My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
