Satisfying conclusion to the series

As with the other books in the series, Peri continues to be her sweet self despite the challenges she is facing. Peri has shown some growth and although she has lost some of her naivety she has learned how to stand up for herself, in the most Peri way possible. If anyone can win over Rollick (besides Quinn) it's Peri! This is a dual narrated audiobook and Vanessa Moyen is so good at balancing Peri's never ending optimism with her strong sense of determination. Aiden Snow never disappoints either and his Hail is still my favourite although Mirage is good fun.

The series has a satisfying conclusion however it never quite matched the first book for me. The rift subplot didn't grasp me in the same way as the Academy and Peri's captor did and as the relationships had settled following on from book two the romance subplot took a bit of a back seat. Hail and Mirage have a little bit of development in this one with Hail showing once and for all that he has changed which I did enjoy though.

The book leaves the human/shadowkind world changed for good and it'll be interesting to see what the impact will be for any future series.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
