I received this book as an ARC for free in return for my honest review. I was not paid, these are my own thoughts & opinions. Thank you to Amy Ressa, and to A.C. Books for the opportunity to read and review this book.
A fantasy book for fans of Sailor Moon.
I absolutely agree with that statement. I grew up watching that show, and I have never really found something that hit the same feeling; until now.
Inherit the Stars is beautifully done. The first maybe, 5% is where you see the most resemblance to Sailor Moon. After that, it begins to branch out and become its own entity. At first, I worried it would be too similar in story to the anime, and that I would feel upset. But while the similarities are clear, the story and events take a different, somewhat darker turn of their own.
You follow Cyra, who has healing powers, as her world gets turned upside down. Her mother disappears, and now she's been called to the Palace to heal the ruler. Follow along as she tries to uncover the secrets of where her mother went, why she's been called to replace her, and many more things.
I was enthralled in the story, and kept needing more and more. I was upset when I couldn't read, because of real life events. Furthermore, I didn't expect to be so invested in this book that I was counting down the pages.
Only 75 pages left, how can I extend this? Oh no, there's only 30 pages left. 10 pages?! When does the next book release??
These were all questions I kept asking myself, and when it ended, I sat here in shock. If you love Sailor Moon, but wanted it to be a little darker, then I highly suggest picking up this book. And when you reach the end, tell me, who are you voting for?
