Roping My Rival is the first book in the Sons of a Legend series. This is a spin-off connected to the Kissing Ridge Cowboys series. This book features Warren and Dane. They are rivals competing in US Roping Rodeos. Dane consistently comes out on top and flaunts it to Warren. They begin with a lot of tension, but their attraction turns more romantic when they have to collaborate.
I found myself really liking this book a lot while I was reading it. Warren had such a gentle and sweet nature. He didn't believe in himself at the beginning, and I'm glad he overcame that. Dane had his issues, but he ended up being a pretty decent guy. When you learn about his background, you realize just how heartbreaking it truly was. It was great seeing how well he treated his sister. The way Warren and Dane connected was really something special. They were kinda hesitant about dating, but once they stopped brushing off their feelings, it was pretty great. Warren's dads were really cool and always there for him.
The best moment for me was when Dane won the stuffed rabbit for Warren. It was such a cute scene.
This was an excellent book that kept me interested throughout. If you enjoy reading MM romances, this book definitely deserves a 5-star rating. The story includes cowboys, longing, humor, romance, and a bit of spice. I can't wait to continue reading the rest of the series.
