Wow. A star rating is inadequate to describe how much I loved this book. I needed some time to process it, the story was so emotional, heavy and heart breaking.
Paige and Lincoln are best friends who find themselves falling in love, a first love romance that develops as they make a film together, along with their mutual best friend Ellis. Then a traumatic event tears them apart and they don't see each other for years. The story moves between the present day and seven years ago. When Paige and Linc run into each other in present day she finds he's living with Ellis. As they reunite it's evident Paige and Linc still love each other (and Ellis is still an amazing friend to them both) but they are still haunted by their past and their fractured memories of what transpired. Until a recording is found.
While this is a dark romance it's not your typical trope, there are some confronting and dark scenes towards the end of the book, check the triggers warnings and be prepared. As devastating as these scenes were to read they are essential to understanding the characters and their trauma and why they believe what they do now.
The ending is simultaneously perfect, infuriating, and heart breaking. I shed more than a few tears reading this, but I absolutely need to know how Paige and Linc (and Ellis too) navigate what they have discovered and get the HEA they deserve. "Till the end"
