First of all- whatever you think this story is- youโre wrong! This isnโt a tale of bad guys becoming better and learning to be good and make the right choices, this isnโt a story where the villain is the bad guy and the hero is the good guy, nor one where you will find redemption and justice. This is a dark tale of past trauma and future evil and lots of haunting events in between!

This was good to listen to but it didnโt jump out at me, I have no complaints but if your stuck between reading or listening then just go for the cheapest as any route will give you the same experience.

This is a beautifully written with a dual time line to slowly reveal all the reasons why life just isnโt fair, instead we get a very dark, and heartbreakingly haunting story of a betrayal so deep, that it shaped Mora into the cunning, evil monster that she is. Set in a world with a Forbidden Forest, lost magic, fae, forbidden magic, and morally grey/black characters.
While embedded with heavy themes, we get a unique and heart wrenching love story. Both parties have been seriously hurt and betrayed for so long that trust no longer exists. and I loved seeing how they begin to heal themselves and each other of all their recent injuries, trauma and dark memories.
I truly appreciated The basic premise/plot of this book as it is a fantastic idea, and unique. For once in a romantasy, The villains are truly villainous and have you enraged by their actions.
The easy writing style offering present tense and past tense POVs was a great addition to the layers of darkness.
BUT-
The magic system is not explained at all. Magic occurs and happens throughout the book, with multiple characters, yet as the reader you are to just assume ANY power you can think of exist. But not everyone has power so don't assume anything.
The book isnโt edited well. A few different chapters felt like a conclusion/ recap or the climax of the story before I was even halfway through.
The villains are truly awful- which I appreciate because the more I despise them, the better it is when they finally meet their downfall, but donโt think for one second that you know who is good and who the bad guy is because theyโre all bad! And there are moments that are written in a way to lead the characters to make the right choices, to change their habits or help anotherโฆ but they wonโt! And I was shocked! Iโve never read anything like it!

I managed to finish it but it was rubbish. I won't keep a physical copy and won't recommend it, but it's a shame as the plot could have made a good book in another author's hands

It was OK. I wish I didn't start this one as it didn't do it for me as I struggled to read it. It had an interesting premise that fell flat but I had to see what happened in the end.

I don't regret reading it, and I will read the next one, but this one did have a few flaws. [These could be repetitive writing, gaps or plot holes, better character growth or world building, areas needing more detail]
Generally, the book lacked depth and became confusing. The plot resonated with me even though it annoyed me on the whole.

I'm glad I read it. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to the right people, but I wanted more! Sadly, it's easily forgettable with a few issues I just couldn't overlook/get past.

Good book! I loved it, but... I needed more! I really did enjoy it, but it had a few parts that needed more detail or added history/background or lore. But that's because the story or characters were memorable, and the plot was strong with brilliant twists. I would re-read if I needed to catch up for the next book and would recommend.

This is my God level tier. The book must be perfectly memorable. Even after reading 50+ more books, I will remember character names and emotions along with the plot. If there is a special edition, then I need to own it! If there is a conversation on books- I'm talking about this!
