Book: What We Bury by Eve Riche

This read had me hooked from start to finish!
First, the writing. Descriptive in all the right places, you could feel the emotion of the characters in their most vulnerable and powerful moments throughout the book. You couldn’t help but connect with the story, especially with darker more vulnerable parts of the story.
Second, story line. The first chapter shocked me, I was not prepared for what was happening. If you are someone who gets triggered, make sure that you check out the trigger warnings because it is HEAVY.
I will say that the storyline is definitely one that gets you thinking, especially considering the horrible things that humans are capable of doing to eachother without remorse. That being said, I loved the progression and the pacing was well done. I just wish that it didn’t end on a cliffhanger! And one that made me so mad!
Third, the characters. So... there is ALOT to unpack here. There were so many characters popping up in this book, and they each leave a mark! The supporting characters were just as amazing. Amy, our FMCs BFF, places an amazinrole of her support person. Then there’s the pieces of garbage men they go after, you can’t help but hate every single one of them! There are still a few characters that I am unsure about, so I hope that the sequel explains them a little bit more!
Now for the MMCs...
Knox. Tall, brooding and described as an absolute mountain in more ways than one! He is the silent strength of the group, and will be the human shield for Sage should it be ever needed - hopefully it won’t be!
Micah. Cute, boyish and the only other person who understands what Sage has survived. He is the reasonable one of the group, and I will always have time for him. He also makes a mad cocktail!
Eli. Sexy leather jacket, extremely closed off and emotionally self destructive. You can’t help but love him, but he is also so severely frustrating!
Holden. The one who will protect them all from the reality of the rest of the world, he is both kind and an absolute beast in the sheets! He will always remain level headed but heaven help anyone who threatens his family.
Milo. Perhaps my absolute favourite character! He is funny, an tornado of chaos who can cook anything including phaellic pancakes!
Our FMC, Sage, she is a fighter. Full Stop. I have a lot of respect for her as a character and I loved her growth after meeting the MMCs. She is kind, strong and powerful.
I loved every moment of this book!
The laughter, the tears and the intensity was all a worthwhile experience.
I will also never see Pokemon Go or Pancakes the same ever again!!
