Book: The Tenant by Freida Mcfadden

This book had me absolutely shook. I swear, no one does a double twist ending like Freida does. I went into this thinking I had a decent handle on where things were going, only to be hit with a twist out of nowhere, then ANOTHER ONE. The back to back chaos really sealed the ending for me. I just sat there staring at the page like, “ma’am, how DARE you”.
The tension of this story was incredibly addictive; the creeping, uneasy, unsettling feeling, like somethings not right and you can’t quite place it. Freida has a way of making you feel like you are standing in the corner of a room, watching everything unfold, catching all the details, but you can’t do anything to stop it. This was giving claustrophobic, tight, gripping, in all the right ways.
Then, the lo mein part… I may never look at noodles the same way again. I had to physically put the book down and breathe, because WHAT?! That moment was so unhinged, and perfectly placed, I genuinely cringed. Horrified, delighted, and traumatized all at once.
This was messy, dramatic, excruciating, and twisty. Every time I thought I knew what was happening, the rug was pulled from under me, and I loved every minute. This is one of those thrillers that reminds you why Freida McFadden is the queen of “I didn’t see it coming”. It’s fast, wild, and one of those you finish and immediately need to talk about because your still trying to process what just happened.
