This was a really quick read, I read the last page but thought I would have only been around 60-65% in!
I was waiting for a love connection (not just hook ups) and for everyone to find out and an actual story to develop...
I was also missing the lore and history of such a greatly unusual magic system. The author has created a wonderful system but we know nothing about any of it... there's no rules or background of any sort and the first chapter just confused me on all levels a book about tea and a character was name brew so that took some getting used to and just other random things like that.
The story was over with super quick, so perfect for anyone looking for that.
It was a really over simplified read too but with fade to black spice of 1 chilly so not ideal for younger generations but good as a older young adult read.
There was no drama or tension so it is a good cozy read. Also- a little will they won't they followed by insta love.
For me everything I have listed are reasons why I really did not like it and why I won't pick up the next one.
To simple, no history or lore, no actual relationship and no tension or drama, it felt like I was reading a high school project that some girls created a secret chapter for.
Banjo is a fun character, and I would have liked to have seen him be given more depth and detail in the story. but as with the lack of magic rules we have no clue whatsoever about gow ge came into her life, what he brings to the mix, what he can or can't do, why she has a tattoo of him or what else that tattoo is for/does or why/how anyone else has their Familiars and why some don't seem to get on right away. there's litterally no background or depth at all.
