So, you think you've read every fantasy trope? Think again.
The Scars Within is so much more than a war college, dragon-riding, slow-burn fantasy. Yes, it has all of that—a strong FMC, a broody MMC (hello, Rhodes! 😍), and epic magic. But what I wasn't ready for was how much I'd fall in love with these characters.
First, the friendship. Scarlet, Laney, Tatum, and Cleo are the found family I didn't know I needed. Their bond is everything. Then, you've got Shayde and Rhodes, the ultimate twin-flame dilemma. I'm a sucker for a broody type, so Rhodes had my heart from the start. Who will Scarlet choose?
But the real MVP? Scarlet's dragon, Lakota. He's basically a sarcastic golden retriever with a penchant for using his wings as a blankie and a past he can’t remember. The vibes are immaculate.
This book tackles some serious stuff, too, like mental health and self-doubt. It's about finding the strength to say "I am meant for more" and proving it to yourself. Scarlet says this to herself many times throughout the book as her story unfolds.
If you love a story with betrayal, found family, enemies to lovers, ancient prophecies, mystery, and a lot of heart, you need to read this!
