I’ve retyped this so many times because it’s so hard to put into words how absolutely phenomenal this book was. There aren’t many books that go above that 5 star rating, but this is one of them - all the stars from me!
From the first page I was sucked right in and it did not let me go the whole way through, and it still hasn’t. This book, these characters, the world and the magic, everything has lived rent free in my head since I finished the last page (and the bonus epilogue 👌🏻) it’s so bittersweet to me that this is a standalone because the wait for a second book would be absolutely painful, so having a finished book has that closure. However even before I finished I was already missing everything and wishing we would be coming back to visit in another book.
This is my first read by @sheilareadsandwrites and I knew almost immediately that it wouldn’t be my last, this book has rocketed her to the top of my auto read list. Her world building is stunning, the tension and fire between Harlow and Henry was 10/10 and had me snickering, kicking my feet and totally blushing. And the spice?? fans self 🔥
The magic and relationships between the different factions and characters was so complex, and Harlows chronic migraines had me relating to her extra hard as I suffer from them myself, and to see how her episodes hit and how the pain was written, it was so nice to see them portrayed with how debilitating they can really can be and not just a ‘bad headache’.
All the stars, read this book, easily a top read of 2026 for me. Thank you so so much Sheila for the gifted copy and stunning story. I cannot wait to read more!!
