i'm gonna need a moment.
this book was so good, five stars all the way because Leighton Greene is just a spectacular writer.
but it was also awful too? and I don't mean like the book itself was awful, because it wasn't, but there were moments and places where I was physically recoiling (please note at no time did i safeword out or y'know stop reading) and I think that's really what's left me so, so blown away by this book? Not the fact that I "pushed through" because that also, is not what happened. It was rough but not a struggle. I had to take breaks (this took a whopping THREE days) because I needed to obtain mental balance after some pieces.
but the connection never stopped. Xander and Ben never stopped. They were living breathing people on the page, trying to figure out who they are to each other, and how they can show that. There was such delicious tension in navigating a long distance relationship where they both have dreams and desires. these books make me uncomfortable but in a way I'm totally addicted to and I can't stop reading and I'm desperate to find out what comes next.
you really, REALLY, should read them too.
like.
right now.
