Book: Straight Boy by Alessandra Hazard

This one really did not work for me.
The dynamic was just too wild for me, and the prison setting made the whole thing feel especially creepy.
I'm not opposed to power imbalances at all, but I couldn't get into this particular one. I also wasn't especially interested in either character, which made it even harder for me to connect with what was happening.
And the writing... oof. It felt very much like a first attempt. The dialogue, characterization, and overall storytelling were all pretty rough, and I never really settled into the story.
The only reason I'm not completely writing off Alessandra Hazard is because I read Just a Bit Twisted first and found enough of a spark there to make me curious about what else she can do. If I had started with this one, I probably wouldn't have continued.
But on its own? This was very much a no for me.
