Luca is somewhat of a playboy, being a famous hockey player he has his share of media scrutiny. When he very suddenly finds he is father to a 3 month baby, whose mum is unable to care for her, his life is forever changed. Enter Samara, the headstrong attorney who takes on Luca's case as a favour. After a quick internet search she finds she's no fan of Luca and while she isn't shy about letting him know, she also can't deny her attraction to him. Luca is such a gentle cinnamon roll, he immediately steps up for his daughter, he supports his ex who has PPD, he is adorable and sassy with Samara. Although Samara gives him a hard time, when she finally starts to let him in and get to know him things really start to heat up. If you've read the previous books in this series you know the De Laurentiis family is large and loud, but they are the most adorable loving characters. There are some fantastic scenes with the family and the ending was very touching. There are mentions of domestic violence (off page), postpartum depression, infertility, PCOS and others. Read the triggers and Author's notes, but I think all subjects were handled with the greatest of sensitivity, as such subjects always are by Giuliana. You can certainly read this as a standalone, but I'd highly recommend the whole series!
