Oh how I loved this book! First off, Aussie author - love it, secondly Aussie location/slang - love it. I absolutely adored these characters - Emilia has experienced trauma in her life and a track record of bad relationships, but she is so strong and kind, you're instantly cheering for her as good things come her way. Then along comes Jake, what a guy! He immediately goes on the approved book boyfriends list.
The banter between these two, and the tension/spice, was top notch. There was also a lot of relationship and career growth over the course of events and their friend/family relationships were also engaging and interesting. I'm a sucker for a he falls first and RO totally delivered as Jake was all in from the start, despite them keeping it a secret at work.
While there is a HEA there is some heartbreak before we get there, so have your tissues handy. I really enjoyed Erin's writing, the dual POV got right to the heart of the characters and the story flows so well and I was hanging on every word. I stayed up til 5am on a work night inhaling this story, such a strong debut and I cannot wait to read more from Erin.
