The ultimate cozy fantasy read! Warm, comforting, and utterly delightful from start to finish. After years of adventuring as an orc mercenary, Viv decides to hang up her sword and open the first coffee shop in the city of Thune. What follows is a gentle, low-stakes story about building something new, finding community, and savoring the small joys of life (with plenty of cinnamon rolls and lattes along the way!).
This book wrapped me in the biggest literary hug. It was such a comfy cozy read, perfect for curling up with a hot drink on a chilly day (or any day, really). The world feels inviting and lived-in, the pacing is relaxed without ever dragging, and the whole thing radiates good vibes.
I loved the main characters, especially Viv's determination and growth, and the sweet slow-burn connections she forms. But my absolute favorites were Cal and Thimble. Cal, the gruff-but-golden-hearted hob carpenter, brings such steady reliability and quiet kindness that you can't help rooting for him. And Thimble, the shy rattkin baker with an absolute gift for pastries, steals every scene he's in, his cinnamon rolls alone deserve their own fan club! The found-family dynamic among the whole crew is heartwarming and makes you wish you could step through the page and grab a seat at Legends & Lattes.
