Review: Just a Bit Wicked

Book: Just a Bit Wicked by Alessandra Hazard

Going into Just a Bit Wicked, I honestly thought this might be the book I liked least in the series. I really did not like Vlad in the previous book, so I wasn't exactly excited to spend an entire book in his head.

And then... somehow, he completely grew on me.

I devoured this book as Vlad fought through his issues, grew closer to Sebastian, and slowly found his way toward something he clearly wasn't prepared for. Sebastian was the perfect match for him because he could actually match Vlad. He didn't disappear beneath Vlad's intensity, and watching the two of them find their balance together was incredibly satisfying.

One thing I really appreciate about this series is that I know what I'm getting into. These books move fast, the emotional arcs can move quickly, and the resolutions don't drag on forever. Could some of Vlad's deeper struggles have been explored over a longer period? Absolutely. But within the pacing and structure of this series, I still felt like Hazard gave us enough character depth to understand him and believe in his growth.

At this point, I really feel like she's getting closer and closer to perfecting what these books are meant to be: deliciously fast-paced, just angsty enough, with characters I can get invested in and a payoff that leaves me satisfied.

And, as always, I love knowing that even after their book is over, I'll get to see Vlad and Sebastian again somewhere down the line.
