This one was CRAZY. I made so many “WHAAAAAAAAAT” faces while reading, but I also literally could not put it down.

There had been hints of Jared and Gabriel in the previous book, so I loved having that thread carry through the series. The years of history between them added so much to the relationship, too. They are both so codependent and so incredibly unhealthy, and apparently that is exactly my brand of romance because I became SO. OBSESSED. with them.

I especially loved Gabriel fighting against his awakening and trying so hard to resist what was happening with Jared. Was all of it ridiculous? Absolutely. But people are ridiculous, and none of it felt so impossible that I stopped believing in them. When the emotional payoff finally came, it was SO satisfying and so well done. I went from making horrified faces at these two disasters to shipping them so, so hard.

The prose continues to improve with every book. It still isn't quite where I want it to be, but I can genuinely see the progression, and clearly the remaining issues aren't enough to keep me away because I was already getting the next book before I even finished this one.

Hazard has officially got me hooked!
