Just a Bit Shameless was a wild ride, and I went through a lot of emotions while reading it. There were twists, plenty of tension, strong chemistry, and enough sweetness to keep me completely invested. Alessandra Hazard knows how to write a fast-paced romance that keeps me turning pages, and this one was certainly no exception.

That said, this ended up being one of my less-favorite books in the series so far.

I love an age gap. I love messy relationships. I am generally more than willing to go along with a dynamic that is a little complicated or even uncomfortable when the book really commits to exploring it. Unfortunately, the age difference and power imbalance here occasionally made me wince, and while the book seemed aware of those issues, I didn't feel like it explored them beyond the surface.

I also struggled a little with Dominic as a character. For the first time in this series, I felt like one of the leads came close to feeling more like an idea of a character than a fully rounded person. I wanted a little more depth from him, especially considering how much the relationship depended on his choices and position.

But despite those reservations? The chemistry was smoking, the story was twisty and entertaining, and my trust in this series kept me happily along for the ride.

Not my favorite of the series, but still a compelling and thoroughly entertaining read.
