Book: Just a Bit Ruthless by Alessandra Hazard

I've been watching Alessandra Hazard's writing improve steadily throughout this series, but this was the book where everything really came together for me. Just a Bit Ruthless was dark, toxic, dangerous, and incredibly hot. Most importantly, thought. the characters and their relationship actually felt fully developed.
Roman and Luke were kind of perfect for their roles. They were jagged in all the right places to fit together, and their connection wasn't built around one big moment where suddenly everything clicked. It was a series of moments that slowly built who they were individually and who they could become together.
And Roman? Nothing is better than discovering a dark man's soft spots. Getting to see beneath all that ruthlessness and finding the places where he was vulnerable was absolutely chef's kiss. He didn't suddenly stop being Roman, either, which made those softer moments even better.
The heat was intense, the relationship was messy in all the ways I wanted it to be, and somehow it all worked because I understood these two and why they worked together.
And then there was the HEA. I loved it. I also love the comfort of being this deep into a series and knowing that even when a book ends, I'm probably going to get to see these characters again.
This was the book where Alessandra Hazard's steadily improving writing really clicked for me, and I am so glad I stuck with this series.
