Book: Just a Bit Confusing by Alessandra Hazard

This one annoyed me.
Not because of the writing, though. Alessandra Hazard continues to improve with every book, and I think we're officially at a 3.5★ level now. She is also VERY good at writing tension and keeping things interesting.
My problem was Ryan. And James. But mostly Ryan.
The setup of how their relationship shifted from lifelong friendship into romance just didn't work for me. Ryan kept dragging out his denial, and it became increasingly frustrating to watch James get hurt while Ryan tried to avoid admitting what was very obviously happening. I understand the point of the struggle, but I spent a lot of this book wanting to shake them both.
And yet... I'm a sucker.
I loved how much these two loved each other. Their relationship had a lifetime of history behind it, and even when I was annoyed with how they got there, I still deeply cared about where they ended up. I wanted the HEA, and knowing this series means I'll get to see more of their happiness later definitely helped.
I also really appreciated the resolution involving James, Tristan, and their father. As a writer, I loved seeing how Alessandra Hazard had woven pieces of that story through several books before finally bringing it to a resolution here.
So yes, I was annoyed. But I was also invested. And apparently that is enough to keep me immediately reaching for the next one.
