okay so this one sounded better in theory.
Aiden gets kidnapped and sold to a wealthy sheikh, and we're apparently supposed to believe that the transition from literal human trafficking to obsessive romance is going to be smooth sailing. i mean I enjoy a questionable fictional man as much as anyone. lemme have the red flags, the possessiveness, the absolutely unhinged behavior. But I need the relationship to actually convince me, and this one just didn't because that emotional development didn't really do the heavy lifting needed to make their connection believable. Add in some pretty uncomfortable cultural stereotypes, and I struggled to get invested.
The spice was there, sure, but spice alone cannot carry an entire book. At some point, I need a plot and characters I actually care about.
