Book: For the Fans by Nyla K.

I loved this book. Like, genuinely loved it.
Avi and Kyran's relationship was so good. I loved that their starting point wasn't some huge, dramatic hatred. It was more of a “ugh, my stepbrother sucks” kind of annoyance that slowly built into something so much more intense. Their connection felt natural, believable, and completely addictive once they started falling for each other.
I also loved the rest of the cast. Avi's best friend was fantastic, Kyran's teammates added so much, and even the villain worked for me, especially with how everything tied back to their history.
But then the book kept going.
And going.
And I honestly wish it hadn't. The story already had everything it needed. The football player, the artist, their friends, their relationship, the person coming back into their lives. I was invested. Adding the later trauma, especially the religious trauma, felt like the book was trying to make itself darker and more dramatic when it didn't need to.
I also wish the warnings had been more specific about the religious trauma, because “sensitive religious topics” doesn't really communicate the nature of what some readers may encounter.
So this was still a really good read, and I thought about it long after finishing. But unfortunately, the decision to keep escalating took something I was loving and made it something I now actively recommend people approach with caution.
