I’ve been sitting on this review (sorry Lex!) for a while because I wasn’t sure how to put my thoughts into words and I wanted to do the two books justice, but I won't, so I’m going to keep it simple and you guys will just have to pick up the duet and see for yourselves how amazing it is!
Lex did it again! I was hooked right from the beginning. Lessons in Madness doesn't stop the momentum after Lessons in Ruin. It picks up perfectly where we leave off in LIR. It’s funny, heartbreaking, gut-wrenching, and action-filled. There's a plot and spicy stuff. 🫦
I love Lex and I will read anything she puts in front of me.
She writes the scenes and the characters so well. The banter is amazing and even when they are at war, they make jokes.
(They get ambushed) Leo snaps, staring at his empty hands. “What are Carter and I supposed to do? Throw pinecones?”
“Use your hands, Lockhart. Let’s kick some ass,” Carter says.
The Characters (I love every one of them!)
Leo - Always precise with a blade
Carter - LOVES junk food.
Zayne - Don’t catch him on a bad day
Kylo - Mom taught him to dance! - “I mean dance. Tango, waltz, swing… the whole bit.”
Lia - Can drive stick shift like a badass
“I’ll tear through this entire war just to get you alone somewhere with no one around for miles. I’m going to ruin you, Lia. You’ll cry out my name until your voice breaks.”
I’m so proud of you, Lex! Can’t wait for the next one!
