Rune Whitlock has premonitions, however her curse is that no one can believe her. Her parents died when she was a baby and growing up in foster care was a nightmare she is still haunted by. When her boss tasks her with a special project she is forced into the office to work with "sexy as sin but cold as ice" Donovan on a project for a mysterious client. A developer who is rumoured to schedule sex on a spreadsheet, their personalities are polar opposite. Despite their differences the chemistry between them is undeniable.
"I'm still evenly split between sinking my teeth into him and lighting him on fire"
When they start to uncover the secrets behind their mysterious client and strange goings on in town, they must face their past to find out who they really are and that they have real powers. The second half of the book got a bit more serious, but so did the tension between Rune and Donovan, so steamy with the will they/won't they constantly thrown together moments. I seriously laughed out loud so hard during this book, the humour is perfectly woven into the story. The Sinister Romance Book Club, the older ladies in town who buddy read smut, are hilarious with their romance tropes and quippy one liners.
"I'd drop to my knees for him if I didn't have arthritis" 💀
This is a wonderfully written small town paranormal romance. If you enjoyed this, or enjoy fantasy in general, also check out Emily's book Fate and Fury which I also thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you Emily Colins for the ARC!
