the hardest thing with an ARC like this one is I wanted to hold out until the last minute. I am straight up BESOTTED with how Cole Beckett writes and I wanted to savor every last word. BUT, I also really need y'all to head out and be ready to buy this as soon as it goes live tomorrow. Or like, in a few hours, I guess?

sequels can suck sometimes. they can feel like a poor reflection of the first installment, especially when that first book is so, so amazing, when it feels like it is literal fire, and it's pretty darn hard to keep that momentum up. But like Colt when he's rounding those last laps, Burnout does not let up as it crosses the finish line. (this is metaphor, not a spoiler, PLEASE NOTE)

there is a different vibe to this one. for one, we get rewarded for our patience in jackrabbit, but there's also something that grows deeper than there was in the first novel. it's a beautiful progression that still recognizes the limitations of these kinds of relationships in realistic ways. also!! we get PLENTY of TOAST.

i need the third one like two weeks ago - apparently there is also going to be a fourth (i'm sobbing, but mostly in a good way) - and i just really wish they were all available at this very moment, but i'd much rather have to be patient and get to have them running around in my head.

also, tv show anyone? lee pace as beau??? gotta be, right?
