Gemma is a romance author and single mum to Sutton, after his Dad passed several years ago. Everett is new in town, having inhereted his grandma's house and deciding on a sea change. Gemma and Everett meet on the pier, a brief encounter but they both feel a connection. They keep running into each other around town but then he moves into his grandma's house, next door to Gemma, and turns out to be Sutton's new school teacher. When Gemma proposes a friends with benefits arrangement with a no string attached clause, Everett agrees, despite already falling for her. This was such a lovely story, it touched on Gemma's grief and the impact of Sutton losing his Dad without being too sad or overwhelming and Everett's issues with his family were very realistic. The romance was a bit of a slow burn, though there were sparks all along and he definitely fell first. Everett fits into Gemma and Sutton's lives so well and never gave a second though to doing things to help them. Gemma's family and friends were so supportive of her moving on and gave her gentle pushes when she needed it. The spice was great (in the classroom!) but it was the gentle unfolding of their romance that really hooked me. I'm very excited to read more in this series and the sneak peek at book 2 was OMG I need it.
