Book: Are Your Parents Home? by Jon Athan

This book had me on the edge of my seat from the very first page to the last. The tension never lets up, and the whole thing is genuinely terrifying because it feels like something that could actually happen. That realistic dread is what makes it so effective. You’re locked in with these characters and the situation just keeps escalating in the worst ways.
The only reason I’m docking a star is Ella. Her choices pissed me off more than once. I get that she’s young and under immense pressure, but some of the decisions she made had me yelling at the book. Even with that frustration, though, I couldn’t put it down. The pacing and constant sense of threat kept me completely hooked.
