I received an ALC copy of this book and thought it was going to be a perfect escape from the winter weather outside. I was very right and very wrong. A summer tale of growing up and coming in to one’s own, Absorbed is the story of Stacy between her junior and senior year of high school as she works at a community pool. There’s family drama, there’s significant boy trauma, theres girls being catty and girls having each others back, and there’s just straight up TRAUMA. It’s not a light fluffy read but it’s well written, the voice acting is excellent, and the 90s nostalgia is real.
Much like real life, much is left unresolved at the end of the book and I wanted to know what happened to certain people but … do we ever really get closure? Especially when you’re absorbed in going in to your senior year of high school.
All in all a fantastic read - I look forward to more of Townzen.
