This book is part of a shared universe. Each book can be read on its own as a true standalone. This book was not what I expected in a good way. When we first meet Carter all we know is he wants vengeance for a murder and the person on the chopping block is no other than his crush June. This book has a secret society and things get dark. In the end, I was glued to the story as I needed to know all the secrets and all the twists and turns. This is a must-read author.
