Book: Reign by Bethan Croome

While I found the world very immersive and I was interested in its magic, I was unable to find any of the characters likeable. It meant that there was no one in the narrative I could root for, nor did I feel any investment in the outcome of events. Particularly, the main character does not seem to care about how her actions affect others, even those she claims to care about. When she does harm them, there's no resulting guilt that the reader sees in her, only the occasional disappointment that the person will no longer fulfill the role for her that they previously had.
