Book: To Our Untamed Core by Sonido Reyes

Thank you Book Sparks for the gifted book and Libro.fm and Versify Books for the gifted audiobook. All opinions are my own.
I’ve been wanting to check out this author’s work for quite a while now, so I was definitely excited when this book hit my mailbox!
I think YA readers will really enjoy this one (just be aware there is a fair amount of fairly graphic on-page violence, often with children involved).
I really enjoyed the fast-paced storyline, and getting to know the many POV characters during their chapters. The standout character has to be Athziri, a brave (and ruthless) 9 year old girl…👀
I do think as a standalone, it suffered a bit in the character development and world building, at least from my perspective. And the ending felt a bit rushed, but overall, I was still hooked by the story, and felt the ending was very satisfying.
Audiobook notes: I always know we’re going to be in good shape when I see Avi Roque listed as the narrator, and they did another fabulous job with this one. Great voices throughout, and he kept me riveted during all the action sequences.
