I could listen to Eleanor Caudill and Sebastian York's easy chemistry on repeat and they are both back for the fourth book in the series. I loved every part of the fall festival back drop for this mystery; the events, the town camaraderie and the fall atmosphere was a great set up for Clare's next amateur sleuth moment. The dunk tank was probably one of my favourite moments along with the scarecrow ball as they both added to the Hallmark vibes of Silver Pines.
The mystery element was engaging but I loved seeing further glimpses into lives of the Silver Pines residents too. Outwith the mystery, Clare's parents return and Susie's relationship with Pate develops into something more. I loved the reveal of Pate's and Jackson's pact and I will be gutted if Jackson is not end game. I like Blake but after that scene in the park and the performance of York in that chapter, if Jackson is not the one for Clare she needs to let him go as this man deserves the happiest of HEAs!
My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
