This book follows Aurora “Rorie” Bruno, a young woman reeling from the recent loss of her mother and suddenly faced with the secretive world of her father — a world she had always been protected from.
Thrown headfirst into the secret society known as The Family, Rorie finds herself at Sommerson University and immersed in the world of the Forma Fraternity and Sorority.
And she barely has time to find her feet before Jacob “Jake” DiFranco selects her to be his Queen for the semester.
What follows is an intensely passionate and ridiculously HOT journey of s3xual discovery and awakening, power exchange, domination and submission.
And when I say the spice is hot...
However, what really worked for me was that the spice never overshadowed the story. Running alongside it is an equally engrossing plot packed with secrets, lies, misogyny, discovery and rebellion, all wrapped up in an increasingly dangerous and violent world.
I absolutely devoured this book.
Andrea’s writing is punchy, emotive, brutal and raw, while somehow being incredibly easy to consume. I flew through the pages.
I’ll admit, I initially wondered whether the story would struggle to distinguish itself from the many other secret-society dark romances out there. Instead, the dynamics within The Family, the “laws” governing its members, the character development and the connections forming between them gave the story its own identity.
There’s far more going on beneath the surface than s3x and secret societies, particularly as Rorie begins to discover exactly what kind of world she has been dropped into — and starts questioning whether she’s willing to play by its rules.
And with that ending leaving the door WIDE open for shifting loyalties, rebellion and some potentially explosive divisions...
There was absolutely no chance I was stopping there.
