The Angel marks the end of the series of duets about the Valentini siblings. I had been waiting for Stan's story for a while. I loved all the glimpses of the snarky bruiser we have had in previous books in the series, and his books totally delivered. Stan has a genius level scientific mind, but is not the smartest when it comes to interpersonal relationships.
Kitty is obviously one of a big Irish family. Her family taught her how to love fiercely even when they do things you hate, which Stan tests constantly. She starts this book by displaying her ability to take care of herself, but once the danger is gone, she quickly leans on Stan. I love her character that she can go from doing what she has to on her own if needed, but being able to lean on those she loves when able as well. She seems like the exact woman that Stan needs to help him stop punishing himself for his supposed past failings. They are definitely my favorite couple in the Valentini family. This book is the satisfying conclusion for a family dynasty that will keep you interested from the first kiss to the last.
The Five Points universe by Akeroyd in general is one of the best mafia/underworld series I have ever read. Not only is it made up of multiple interconnected series that add up to a complex web of characters and villains, each love story is unique and highlights the personalities of each couple. This overall series contains almost every trope I can think of- mafia, motorcycle club, suspense, secret societies- and almost every type of love story imaginable. I cannot recommend this series enough. Everyone can find something they like.
