The audiobook cast was the reason I picked up this book and I am so glad I did! I love Amanda Leigh Cobb; she is one of my favourite narrators for a bright, likeable, sarcastic heroine and was perfect for Alex. I really liked Alex as she wasn't the usual hardened dystopian FMC. Instead, Alex openly admits she got lucky several times (the Costco and the General Store face off were my favourites), didn't have a convenient apocalypse based skillset prior to the rift opening, and manages to keep her sense of humour.
I like Ryan Lee Dunlap for similar reasons; he always does a great golden retriever MMC and Riley is no exception. The banter and chemistry between Dunlap and Cobb is spot on for that friends turned lovers vibe. James Cassidy does the perfect amount of growl for the General and I was melting every time he said Alexandra so Alex holds out longer than I would have! I am so ready for book two as although there were some pretty big reveals towards the end, Alex and the General's connection has me intrigued. I'm not usually a love triangle fan and as much as I like Riley, there is definitely something about the General!

3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
