Nick is everything you want in a former playboy who changes his ways once he meets the right girl. He has been smitten since the moment he met Tallulah last summer. He had to watch her date his best friend and has been biding his time since they broke up to make his move.
Tallulah signs up for a summer program in Toronto. She is going to push herself out of her comfort zone, in a place with low stakes, away from anyone she knows. The program she signed up for turns out to be rougher than she expected. Thank goodness she actually does know someone who happens to be in Toronto for the summer too.
Nick convinces Tallulah that they can help each other out- friends with benefits style. Once Tallulah accepts that he's serious, operation woo Tallulah is on.
I love how Nick has no shame. He humiliates himself, he punishes himself physically, he literally gets on his knees for the chance to be with Tallulah. It is so sweet and swoony. He helps her open up in all aspects of her life, and deal with her anxiety so she can go after what she wants. He really is the BEST book boyfriend and reluctant cat daddy.
The character growth for both of them through this story is my favorite part though. They are at the time in their lives where they are becoming who they will be forever. And this book shows the best ways that can happen with goood friends and family around you.
If you like new adult, friends with benefits to lovers, a clear villain who gets what's coming to him, and excellent found family, this book is a must read.
