Book: Dark Dare by A.L. Maruga

Olly is definitely the star of the show; she is a real force to be reckoned with and takes no prisoners when it comes to her revenge plan. I loved how she stood up for herself too and the way she took down Ava was brilliant. The MMCs just paled a little in comparison for me though. Everyone is so angry and I felt I was missing some context as to why rage was the default setting. These characters aren't there to be redeemed but the constant cruelty became a little repetitive and I would have loved to have seen a peek at some of the layers these characters have. I feel like this will come out in book two though after the cliffhanger.
I loved seeing Julia all grown up though; Damon was probably my least favourite character (I will never look at a remote in the same way again) but I liked the scene with him and Julia as well as seeing the MMCs when they weren't being degrading to a woman in their space.
I'll still pick up book two as I feel a lot of the questions I have will probably be answered and I know Olly is going to fight tooth and nail. I'm intrigued to see how the MMCs react to Gerald's plan too as although the all seem to hate each other, they enjoy the perks of Mayhem. I think Olly may be the deal breaker though!
My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
