Of Blood and Lies was a bit of a mixed read for me. The beginning felt slow, and I had a hard time figuring out exactly what time period this story was set in. The mix of modern elements with the fantasy aspects felt a little strange to me at times.
That being said, I really enjoyed the characters and found myself invested in their journeys. I especially loved watching Avina discover more about herself throughout the story. I also really enjoyed the ending and was happy with where things landed.
I do wish there had been more world-building because I think it would have helped me connect with the story and its setting more.
Overall, it was an enjoyable read with characters I genuinely cared about, even though some parts didn’t completely work for me. 🖤📖
